Trends in Interventional Pulmonology

KMCH has the only Endo Bronchial UltraSound in the county so far and the only video pleuroscopy in the region.

Interventional Pulmonology is a nascent subspeciality in the field of respiratory medicine. KMCH has been a pioneer in this new speciality.

The purpose of TIP 2009 is to promote an update on the subject of interventional Pulmonology. We understand the importance in recognizing the indication for a timely intervention. In the modern day practice, it is very appropriate for us to sample the mediastinal nodes for a definitive tissue diagnosis and a pleuroscopic biospy for all non diagnosed exudative pleural effusions. The focus of this update will be on diagnostic Interventional Pulmonology.

TIP 2009 will have experts of National and international repute demonstrating techniques like EBUS, TBNA and pleuroscopy live on patients and I sincerely feel that it will provide a useful vehicle to disseminate knowledge that can benefit the community and also provide an inspiration for young pulmonologists to take up this speciality.
